3/24/2000 in nyc:

Rumour had it that Laura was coming down to NYC for the weekend.  So, Cristen called me and asked me to come into the city.  The girls were going to come in, and I called Jon and see if he was ready for some knobbers, and he said he was down.  We all got in there, and had a pretty darn good time.

We chilled at Cristen's for a while, and then we went out to the bar.  After that, a few of us went back to some guys apartment for a while, and that's when I left.  So, the rest of you will have to fill me in on the details after that, lol.  Once again, I walked in NYC alone, at 3 in the morning...I must be asking to get mugged.  Anyway, sorry for setting off that door alarm guys...I got so freaked out on the way out of that apartment building.  I couldn't find the exit, and then I found that fire alarm door, and I didn't realize it...so it wen't off.  Doh!  Then, I went out some gate and I got trapped in like a courtyard until I found an open gate, which dumped me onto 10th avenue.  I walked in the wrong direction for like 5 minutes, until it was when I actually noticed that I was on 10th avenue, instead of 8th.  :)  Stumbled back to Penn Station, past the downtrodden and homeless, into the depths of Pennsylvania Station, at which point I waited 25 minutes for the 3:49am Long Island Railroad train back to Syosset.  Only problem was I woke up in Cold Spring Harbour, which required another, all be it small, train ride back to the Syosset station.  Doh!---I've seem to be saying that a lot recently.

Well, I came down for the weekend, and I brought a camera.  However, I forgot to take pictures.  Go figure.

Sorry I didn't get to see all that I said I would, but the time seemed to go by so fast.  I had to leave pretty early on Sunday too.  Why can't my days at work go that fast?

After driving 5 and a half hours on Friday night on what should be less than a 3hr trip, I got to Bryan's with a case of Carona's.  Bryan was still out to dinner with his parents, but guess who was waiting in Bryan's apartment...Anish.  Anish had just spent the last 3 odd months in India, and the stories he told Bryan and myself were amazing.  I couldn't do it any justice here, but he told us about the type of mentality in public - you sort of walk, or get walked on.  He traveled all around the country by train, mainly in 3rd class.  One story that he told us was great.  He had been told of this great hiker guide - I forget his name - that lived in a certain town.  Anish took a train to this town, and went around looking for this man.  When he found him, he explained to him what he wanted to do, and that was to hike this really hard mountain.  The man told Anish that it would be tough, but Anish wanted to go anyway.  The man handed a gardening tool to his wife, and he gathered up some gear.  A few minutes later, they were off on the 5-day hike.

Anish talked about how emotional getting to the top was, and the entire trip as a whole.  As I said, I can't do any justice here, but go find Anish and talk to him to hear about his crazy 3 month adventure.

We did the usual in Newark - the old Kates/Deer Park routine.  I wish I remembered more of it, but that's a usual problem with me.  Marc was also up from Virginia this weekend, so we were able to meet up with him.  Dank was also around as usual, who by the way, got a nice V8 cop car, all be it used.  No more tickets for him.

Saturday night was a little more eventfull should I say.  Nothing like letting your mind wander in White Clay Creek for a few hours.  What I do remember is feeling the water for an hour or so, and then I spent the next hour I believe deciding if I wanted to walk across the creek.  The brain is a crazy thing, and it only gets crazier when you start to manipulate it.  And that's where I'll leave it.  If you want to hear the entire story of that evening, well, you'll just have to track me down.

benoit - april 2000 in newark:

Benoit decided to come back to the U.S. for about 10 days, and while a lot of us were spread out, quite a few of us managed to see him.

Bryan, Anish, Dank and Neil - already living in Newark along with some of other's Benoit's friends were able to see quite a bit of him.  I came down for one Saturday night, and wound up passing out late at night (thats a suprise), but I did manage to see Benoit for a few hours.  I thought I saw him late night at Bryan's but that could have either been a dream, or to qoute Neil, "an illusion facilitated by alcohol."  Thank you Neil.

Anyway, here are some pictures below.  As usual, click on the links below to see each individual picture.  Keep in mind I was a bit picture happy.

5/12/2000 in newark:

Well, it was nice to see some of you in Newark last weekend.   I know I still missed a bunch of people, but they'll be another time.   It was quite a weekend.   Let's see...Bryan and I get thrown out of Kates, and neither of us knew why the other one was getting thrown out.   It was because of me, tho. :) >  (Don't do a shot, go outside to throw up, and then try to come back into the bar.)   So, after getting thrown out of Kates (Bryan litterally got picked up by his neck, but he was enjoying it), we went down to the Deer Park.   I wish I could remember the rest of Cinco de Mayo, but the next thing I know, it's 6:05am and I'm waking up in the bushes in old college, right on North College avenue across the street from Willard Hall.   I don't know how the hell I got there (which in and of itself is pretty scary), but the fact that I had been sleeping there, in full sight, for 5+ hours without being disturbed, in a town of 50,000 people, 16,000 college students, and god knows how many police, is equally as frightening.

My expression when I awoke was pretty darn funny.   I think I was still drunk.   I woke up (from being face down in the grass), and I stood up.   Not knowing what the hell was going on, I started laughing.   I looked at my beeper (which I still had) and I saw it was morning, I started chuckling a bit harder.   Then, I looked in my pockets.   I had everything I had the night before; wallet, keys, beeper, cell phone, and the ever popular, beer-breath curing, spicy, sexual aids; my Altoids.   Whew!.   The walk back to Bryan's was interesting, as people pointed and laughed, thinking I was doing the walk of shame.   If they only knew that instead of sleeping with someone, I was sleeping with the squirrels.   So, I guess the joke is on them?   I don't know.   If you were walking by and you were one of the hundreds who I am sure saw me passed out in the shrubbery, I thank you for not stealing my wallet and phone, and not doing anything "fraternity-like" to me.  I know I don't have to go into details about how bad it could have been when I woke up. :)

After a few hours sleep, we grabbed some breakfast, and then we went on a bike ride.  It was just Bryan and I, but It was almost Bryan, myself, and the paramedics.  Rule #1 - Don't drink $120 worth of alcohol on a Friday night, and then try and be a tough guy and bike 10 miles the next afternoon.  Not gonna happen.  I hope no one witnessed it, but Bryan and I left his apt on New Street, rode up Cleveland, down Wilbur St., and into White Clay.  To make a long story short, that bike ride kicked my ass.  Either I'm out of shape, dehydrated, or just not used to the wham bam slam of 90 degree weather we had.

Saturday night was a bit more interesting.  A visit to some friends, then to the Deer Park, and then back to the apt for a few more beers.  That turned into playing frissbee and baseball from about 5:30am until about 9.  Bryan and Dan crashed for a bit, but I decided to stay up and see what it's like to stay awake the whole night.  However, I convienently forgot that I had to drive home to Long Island later that evening, and well, that was pretty interesting.  I'm still trying to catch up on sleep.

Dank, Bryan and myself had a weekend that Hunter S. Thompson would be proud of. :)

Anyway,  here is the idea.  It's a small thing, but I think it would be pretty cute.  If everyone at some point in the next few weeks or so, could email me their birthdate I throw that info up on the website so people know when everyone else birthday is.  I'll be the first to say that I know very few of my friend's birthdays exactly - I just know around the general time of when it is.

Also, I know a bunch of you are graduating soon.  Let's see, uhh off the top of my head -- Goldie, Jill, Laura and the rest of the 108 girls, Billy, Brendon, Geoff, and I believe thats it.  I think Adam's sister and others in 106/104 have a bit more to go if I'm remembering right.  A few weeks after graduation, your UD email will be gone, so make sure to let me know of your new email address so I can make a decent attempt at figuring out where everyone is and how everyone is doing.

Bryan, as always, thanks for letting me crash at your place, and good luck with the AC.  Tell Danielle I'll change her info on the website to make it more what she wants. Cristen --> Do Kevin and Andrew live in Hartford or Westport, Connecticut?  I'm forgetting.  Do you know if they have an email address?  I already lost Kevin's phone #.  It might be just easier to drive up to Connecticut to find those two. It'll only take me an hour or so I think.

Anyway, that's all for now.  Sorry that my messages get so long sometimes - I just start typing and it seems to flow.  Even when I'm tired and it's 80 degrees in this room right now.  Try and stay cool, and look for a few more messages this month from me.

Here are the two messages I apparently left on one of my friend's cell phones that Saturday morning when I woke up.  The actual time is 5:20am 5/13/2000, and the place is near Williard Hall.  I'm still a little confused in the first message as to where I am and what time it is.  (I originally thought I was down by the fieldhouse when I was actually by the Deer Park, and I thought it was 6:20am when it was really 5:20.)  In the 2nd message, I sound a little more coherent, but I'm still confused. :)

cristen's party - august 2000 in nyc:

Here are some pictures I found that were taken at Cristen's old apartment on 8th and 52nd.  They are from - I believe - August of 2000.  It's been a while, and my memory escapes me, but we were there for line a wine and cheese party.  This of course turned into a wine spilling and cheese throwing party by the end of the night.  Some people told me I was eating stuff off the floor at the end of the night.  That's really attractive.  I believe it's also the last time many of us saw Jon before he moved to San Francisco.  For the life of me, I don't remember what we did that night.  I know we went out to some bar, but I seriously can't remember.  Anyway, below are some of the pictures from it that I finally got developed.

benoit - march 2002 in nyc:
